What is the Export Tool in the CMS App?

The Export tool in the CMS App enables users to quickly and easily export transcripts from their raw media files with a few simple clicks. 

Depending on their needs, users may choose to export their transcripts in a variety of formats, including .txt (plain text), .ttml (Time Text Markup Language), .vtt (WebVTT) , or .srt (SupRip Text).

How to Export a Single File Transcript in the CMS App

1. To filter files in CMS, start by clicking on the App Switcher and selecting the CMS App from the dropdown menu. The CMS App will open in a new tab:

2. Locate the media file that you would like to export transcripts from by clicking on Streams and then navigating to the Files level. Apply filters using the Filters Tab as necessary. Click on the tile associated with the file that you’d like to export transcripts from to open the Media Detail Page:

3. On the Media Detail Page, click on the Three Dot Action Menu to the right of the pencil icon. Select Quick Export:

4. A pop-over window will appear listed various file formats. Select the format(s) that you wish to export by checking the boxes directly to the left of the format name. Once satisfied with your selection, click Export:

The files will download as a .zip file to the downloads folder on your computer. 

How to Export the Transcripts for Multiple Files in the CMS App

1. To filter files in CMS, start by clicking on the App Switcher and selecting the CMS App from the dropdown menu. The CMS App will open in a new tab:

2. Locate the media files from which you would like to export transcripts by clicking on Streams and then navigating to the Files level. Apply filters using the Filters Tab as necessary. Once you’ve located your files, click on the check boxes at the top left-hand corner of your desired files to select. Then click the Download icon that appears at the top-right of the page:

3. This will open the Bulk Export and Download Modal. Click on the carrot within the Export Format Selection field, then click on the carrot within the All Engines field to expose the file formats. Select your desired format(s) by checking the corresponding boxes. Click the blue Export button when satisfied:

4. The files will download as a .zip file to the downloads folder on your computer. 

PRO TIPS

  • If you’d like to download the file corresponding for a Mention or Search Result in the Discovery App, you can easily access the Media Detail Page for that file by opening the Three Dot Action Menu in Discovery and selecting View Details.
  • While you can leverage the CMS Export tool to download transcripts for multiple media files at once, CMS does not currently support the merging of these transcripts. Once downloaded to your computer, you can merge the transcripts locally outside of the platform.
